The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) is an interactive, immersive experience that gives participants a glimpse into the structural barriers facing individuals living on low-income. In order to most effectively utilize this tool, Missouri CAN encourages all CAPS kit users to invest in the Poverty Simulation Facilitator Training. *During the first day of this event, all participants will experience the Poverty Simulation as family members. Then on day two, participants will gain the skills necessary to plan, promote, direct, and facilitate a Poverty Simulation in their own community.

Event Registration:

Please note that all attendees for the Poverty Simulation training need to register for the event through this online form. Missouri CAN is unable to accept event registration via mail or phone. The training has a maximum capacity of 80 participants, and it has historically filled to capacity very quickly. Click the button above and fill out the fields as prompted to secure your spot today! After registration is complete, you will receive an email to confirm. Registration deadline is October 8, 2021.

 

The registration fee covers all training materials and lunch on October 19, 2021. You can pay by credit card online, or you can click on the “pay later” box at checkout in order to pay by check or PO. POs can be emailed to povertysimulation@communityaction.org and checks made payable to Missouri Community Action Network can be mailed to Missouri CAN, 3337 Emerald Lane. Jefferson City, MO 65109. Please note that if you chose to pay offline, the payment deadline is October 8, 2021. If Missouri CAN does not receive your payment by October 8, 2021 your spot will be offered to someone on the waiting list.

 

Fee Schedule:

Standard registration for this event is $420. Register by September 22, 2021 for $50 off the standard fee. For every two attendees your organization registers, get the third half off! That’s just $185 for your third registrant during early-bird registration and $210 during standard registration..

 

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be in writing, and there will be a $50 cancellation fee for ALL registrations cancelled after October 8, 2021. The cancellation fee is waived if there is a substitution.

 

IMPORTANT NOTE REGARDING COVID-19:

All Poverty Simulation Facilitator Training attendees must be fully vaccinated in order to participate.  You will need to bring a copy of your vaccination card to show as proof at the time of your onsite registration.  If you are not able to provide your vaccination card onsite, you will be turned away from the training. The city and county of St. Louis - where this training will be held - have an active mask mandate in place for all individuals, regardless of vaccination status.  You will be required to appropriately mask in all common areas of the hotel.

 

Attention Missouri Community Action Agency Employees:

If you are a current employee of a Missouri Community Action Agency, the cost for this training is $50.00 if you register on or before the early-bird deadline of September 22, 2021. For Missouri Community Action Agency Employee that registers after early-bird deadline the cost will be $100.00.  Please sign into your individual NEON account prior to register

 

Hotel Reservations:

A block of rooms has been reserved for the nights of October 17 - 20 2021 at the Renaissance Hotel at a special room rate of $119 per night plus tax. To secure a room at this discounted rate, please  Book your group rate for Community Action Poverty Simulation or you may call 417-864-7333 before noon on September 27, 2021 the hotel reservation deadline. This does not include breakfast.

 

Transportation: Renaissance Hotell provides guests complimentary shuttle service to/from Lambert International Airport.
