The Community Action Poverty Simulation (CAPS) is an interactive, immersive experience that gives participants a glimpse into the structural barriers facing individuals living on low incomes. In order to most effectively utilize this tool, Missouri CAN encourages all CAPS kit users to invest in the CAPS Facilitator Training.

Our 1-day virtual training has the benefits of the in-person training without the hassle of travel. You won’t experience the simulation, but you’ll receive high-quality training to prepare for your next in-person simulation. When you attend the virtual training, you’ll be ready to facilitate successful in-person poverty simulations when your organization is ready.

The full-day virtual training will provide you with the opportunity to learn facilitation best practices alongside peers within your industry from across the country. As we guide you through the simulation planning process, we’ll discuss the importance of setting objectives for your simulation, and you’ll have access to a small group of fellow facilitators.

To achieve this, all attendees are required to complete our pre-survey. The information collected from this survey will allow us to structure our break-out rooms to enable attendees to network with others within similar professional sectors. Please complete the pre-survey here.

Event Registration

Please note that all attendees for the CAPS Facilitator Virtual Training need to register for the event through this online form. Missouri CAN is unable to accept event registration via mail or phone. Click the button above and fill out the fields as prompted to secure your spot today! You can pay by credit card online, or you can check the “pay later” box at checkout in order to pay by check or PO. POs can be emailed to povertysimulation@communityaction.org and checks made payable to Missouri Community Action Network can be mailed to Missouri CAN, 3337 Emerald Lane, Jefferson City, MO 65109. Please note that if you chose to pay offline, the payment deadline is July 9, 2021. If Missouri CAN does not receive your payment by July 9,2021, you will not be able to participate in the training.

Event access information and additional training materials will be emailed to attendees one week prior to the event. 

Registration Cost

Standard Registration: $200/person 

Registering multiple people from your organization? For every two attendees your organization registers at the standard registration rate, get 50% off for the third attendee.

Missouri Community Action Agency Employees: $75/person

The registration fee covers the cost of CAPS Facilitator Virtual Training only. The registration does not include the CAPS kit. In order to obtain a copyright license and CAPS kit, please visit http://www.povertysimulation.net/.

Cancellation Policy

All cancellations must be in writing, and there will be a $50 cancellation fee for ALL registrations cancelled after July 9, 2021. The cancellation fee is waived if there is a substitution.
